Tilting at WMDmills
It’s a war that never should have been.
And my son is fighting in it.
So we’d better win it.
So he'll come home
And soon.

New Shoes
Forming new habits
Is like breaking in a new pair of shoes.
Unaccustomed,
Uncomfortable,
Maybe even painful.
The adjustment period may be long.
Might want to go back to the old ones,
(Shabby though they are.)
Despite the trouble they've caused in the past.
May alternate for a while,
Wearing the new ones in public
And the old ones home alone.
You hardly notice it
When the new ones seem to fit.
And then one day you look back at the old ones
And wonder how you ever could have worn them for so long.
